We already posted their tifo; here’s the rest of the day in pics for the Montreal Impact ultras at their first home MLS home game. For the veterans amongst them who have spent years supporting the team at the lower levels, it must have been quite the shock to suddenly be engulfed by 58,912 fellow fans. Looks like they made the best of it.

Montreal Manic: Impact Expect To Draw Over 60,000 For MLS Home Opener

The Montreal Impact, after 18 seasons in lower divisions, became MLS’s 19th club for the 2012 season and will be greeted by a huge home crowd Saturday at the Olympic Stadium where it hosts Chicago. More than 52,000 tickets have been sold. The stadium’s capacity was boosted to more than 58,500 by adding field level bleachers this week and 1,600 more are to go in to push the number of seats to more than 60,000.

The first episode of the Pitch Invasion podcast was released yesterday, with PI founder Tom Dunmore and former Chicago Fire president Peter Wilt interviewing Jesse Marsch on how he is forming an MLS team from scratch in Montreal, and discussing UK/US fan culture with Dave Boyle, formerly head of Supporters Direct in England.

Peter Wilt and Tom Dunmore host the inaugural Pitch Invasion podcast, exploring soccer culture around the world from the American Midwest. In the first show, Peter and Tom talk first to Montreal Impact head coach Jesse Marsch about the challenges of starting a soccer club, putting together a team from scratch, and fan culture in MLS.

Peter and Tom then welcome Dave Boyle to the show, with the former head of Supporters Direct in England explaining the benefits of fan engagement for clubs, and with some timely thoughts on Darlington’s financial crisis and lessons for English football.
